Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has expanded its North American Commercial Restructuring practice with the addition of Brian J. Fox, who joins as a Managing Director in New York.
Fox brings more than 25 years of experience advising companies and other parties-in-interest across various industries including aerospace, defense, manufacturing, mining, shipping, gaming, chemicals, retail and staffing. His expertise spans a full range of financial advisory, operational improvement and interim management services in restructurings and other special situations, both in court and outside of bankruptcy.
“In times of uncertainty and volatile capital markets, companies will need to focus on incremental operational improvements to maintain liquidity and earnings through the cycle,” said Jeff Stegenga, a Managing Director and leader of Alvarez & Marsal’s North American Commercial Restructuring practice. “Brian’s breadth of experience will enhance our ability to help companies around the globe improve their performance and execute the complex restructurings upon which A&M’s heritage is built.”
Fox has led large cap and mid-market restructurings and has worked extensively with companies to develop operational improvement programs around customer and product profitability, working capital reduction and expense reduction. He has assisted companies in the development of cash flow and liquidity forecasts, strategic and operating plans, capital structure alternatives and the development, negotiation and implementation of restructuring transactions.
“The current global economic environment will likely cause a broadening of the financial distress that we’ve seen over the past year,” said Fox. “This will create opportunities for companies to restructure their balance sheets and operations and for investors across a range of sectors to make well-timed investments.”
Prior to joining A&M, Fox was a Managing Director with a global business advisory firm in New York. Previously, he was a Managing Director at a New York-based boutique restructuring firm and a partner in the restructuring practice at an international professional services firm.
He is a CPA in New York, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Turnaround Management Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
Privately held since 1983, A&M is a leading global professional services firm that delivers business performance improvement, turnaround management and advisory services to organizations seeking to transform operations, catapult growth and accelerate results through decisive action.
