DLA Piper (Canada) LLP’s national restructuring group has two new members.
Edmond Lamek and Danny Nunes have both joined the firm’s Toronto office, Lamek as a partner and Nunes as an associate.
For 25 years, Lamek has advised clients about all aspects of Canadian and cross-border insolvency proceedings and transactions, including Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) issues and Chapter 11 proceedings. His clientele has included secured and unsecured creditors, financial institutions, landlords, boards of directors, suppliers and receivers. Lamek is currently acting for three major landlords in the Sears Canada Inc. CCAA proceedings. In the past year, he has had central roles in the receivership proceedings of HMV Canada Limited and Strellmax Ltd.(Strellson Canada).
Nunes has a corporate restructuring, bankruptcy and insolvency practice. His clients have included financial institutions, regulatory bodies, creditors, debtors and court-appointed officers in corporate restructurings, including cross-border proceedings. He recently represented a significant asset purchaser from Sears Canada Inc. Nunes will continue to work with Lamek to represent the Urbancorp Group of Companies in its CCAA proceeding.
