Sidley Investment Funds Practice Adds Partner in New York

Sidley Austin LLP announced that Oren Gertner has joined the firm in New York as a partner in its premier Investment Funds practice. Mr. Gertner joins from Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, where he was in the firm’s Corporate department, practicing in the Investment Management group.

“Over the past two years, Sidley has prioritized the growth and development of our private equity funds and other illiquid private funds capabilities, particularly within international money centers like New York,” said William D. Kerr, global leader of Sidley’s Investment Funds practice and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. “The arrival of Oren, who is an exemplary talent in private fund formation, reinforces that Sidley is recognized as a destination to grow a thriving practice.”

Gertner focuses his practice on the forming, structuring and offering of domestic and international large and mid-market private equity funds, hedge funds, sector-specific funds, secondary funds and funds of funds. He advises on structuring and negotiating a broad range of transactions in the secondary market, including GP-led secondary transactions, as well as drafting operating agreements and carry plans in connection with the formation of new investment management companies and spin-outs. Mr. Gertner also counsels clients on state and federal securities laws related to fund formations and offerings.
