Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, LLP (A&M Taxand), an affiliate of leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), has strengthened its Federal Tax practice with the appointment of Elizabeth “Libby” Goodwin as a Managing Director. Ms. Goodwin’s hire augments the firm’s Federal Tax capabilities and supports A&M Taxand’s commitment to solve clients’ increasingly complex tax concerns.

Goodwin brings over 20 years of tax advisory experience, serving at both consulting and public accounting firms, as well as serving as an in-house tax advisor for investment companies. Over the course of her career, Ms. Goodwin has held numerous roles in the asset management industry, focusing on credit matters, tax-advantaged entities and real estate assets.
 
She has led the oversight of large compliance engagements, fund formation and launches, and entity-level transactions, including merger and acquisition of funds. Ms. Goodwin has also worked on evaluating the tax implications of potential investments, restructuring distressed investments, and managing tax matters in exits from portfolio companies.

Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Goodwin was a Partner at KPMG, serving in the Financial Services Tax team. She has also worked at Ares Management, Allied Capital and EY. Ms. Goodwin earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from College of William and Mary. She is a Certified Public Accountant in New York and Virginia.
