Morgan Lewis announced the addition of Luis Herrero, who joins from Sidley as a partner resident in the Chicago office. Luis’s move to Morgan Lewis follows the recent arrival of former Sidley global finance practice co-leader Mark Kirsons.
“In welcoming Luis to our elite global finance team, we are doubling down on our strong lender side asset-based lending and direct lending capabilities in the US Midwest,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “Our global finance practice serves as a trusted advisor to a host of financial services clients and we are glad to expand our services to support their financing needs.”
Luis focuses on sponsor and non-sponsor acquisition financings, and secured and unsecured single currency, multi-currency and cross-border lending transactions. He regularly advises clients on secured and unsecured asset-based and cash flow loans; loans to distressed companies; and loan transactions in a variety of industries, including healthcare, gaming, technology, media and entertainment, and energy. Luis represents commercial banks, investment banks, private equity sponsors, hedge funds, and public and private corporations in their capacities as agents, lenders, sponsors, originators, or borrowers.
“In addition to his extensive background in providing advice in credit transactions across a broad array of asset classes and industries, Luis has deep experience structuring, negotiating, and closing equity sponsor acquisition financings,” said Jonathan Bernstein, leader of Morgan Lewis’s global finance practice. “We are thrilled to welcome Luis and Mark, who have collaborated closely for many years to advise banking and private equity clients.”
In addition to Mark’s recent arrival, the firm earlier welcomed partner Tori Weir in London expanding the global depth of the finance team. In Chicago, Luis will also rejoin structured transactions partners Jeff Weinstein and Patrick Lampe, and labor and employment partners Ami Wynne and Jonathan Lotsoff, who all were previously with Sidley.
