Peter Houghton, who has more than 20 years of experience sourcing strategic equity and debt for institutional commercial real estate investors and developers, joined Dekel Capital as Managing Director.

Houghton comes to Dekel from Starcity, an urban multifamily development and operating company, where he served as Managing Director of Capital Markets, directing capital raising and capital strategy along with overseeing investor relations and marketing oversight. Previously Houghton was Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager for Lowe Enterprises Investors where he raised $500 million in programmatic JV equity from family offices and life insurance companies for national value-add office, industrial, and mixed-use development strategies. Earlier in his career, Houghton held acquisition and investor facing roles with two prominent social impact funds, including an urban investment joint venture with Ervin “Magic” Johnson.

Houghton brings a strong investor network and over $2.5 billion of transaction experience to his new role at Dekel, where his expertise in working with institutional investors will contribute to the continued growth of the firm said Dekel Capital Managing Principal Shlomi Ronen.

“Peter has an enviable track record raising programmatic equity from institutional sources and we will be leveraging his relationships to expand our equity raising capabilities within the commercial real estate sector,” Ronen said. “With Peter leading the effort, we are now better positioned to help clients source JV equity for one or a series of deals.”

Houghton will report directly to Ronen, who he met while earning an MBA in Finance/Real Estate from USC’s Marshall School of Business. Houghton also holds a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from Washington State University.
