Dickinson Wright LLP announced John D. Leslie has joined the firm's Toronto office as a partner. Leslie focuses his practice on important and complex domestic and cross border restructuring and insolvency matters. He represents debtors, financial institutions, receivers, trustees, customers, suppliers and other creditors and stakeholders in major insolvency and restructuring proceedings. Over the past several years he has been extensively involved in a number of auto industry-related insolvency cases in the United States and Canada. Leslie also has extensive experience in a variety of litigation matters relating to insolvency, bankruptcy, commercial fraud priority disputes and general commercial disputes, including those arising from equipment and inventory financing.
Leslie is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Essex Law Association, the Association for Corporate Growth, the Turnaround Management Association, and the Canadian Insolvency Foundation. He has presented and written published articles on doing business in Canada, automotive restructuring, and Canadian insolvency legislation. He received his B.A. from the University of Windsor and his LL.B. from the University of Windsor Law School.
