Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has bolstered its Valuation Services practice with the acquisition of ValSource Advisory Services, Inc. proprietary technology.  ValSource was founded by Chandu Chilakapati, who joins the firm as a Managing Director based in Houston, along with a team of three additional senior professionals.

In addition to significant consulting experience, Chilakapati brings a valuation outsourcing service that utilizes a proprietary software platform to A&M’s practice, which will be known as A&M ValSource.  The web-based technology, which he and his team developed, enables A&M to deliver accurate, timely and independent fair value reporting, hedge accounting, and disclosures for complex financial instruments, including derivatives, for energy / commodity, interest rate and foreign currency contracts.  The team also brings extensive valuation and financial reporting experience in the areas of stock-based compensation, impairment testing, asset and business valuation and litigation support.

John O’Neill, national practice leader of A&M Valuation Services, said: “Chandu and his team have led the way in creating and utilizing innovative technology to accurately assess the value of financial instruments for a range of critical needs, from strategic business planning, to measuring and monitoring risk to disclosure related matters. This technology, which is now exclusive to A&M, enhances our ability to provide clients with a technology-based consulting service for their most complex valuation needs.”

Chilakapati has provided valuation and risk management consulting services for more than 13 years. Prior to founding his company, he served as a senior manager in KPMG’s financial risk management practice, and a manager in Arthur Andersen’s financial and commodity risk consulting practice.  A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Mr. Chilakapati earned an MBA with concentrations in finance and risk management from Rice University. He speaks at and moderates numerous national technical accounting conferences related to fair value and derivative and hedge accounting.

Joining A&M with Chilakapati are Christopher Pappalardo, Senior Director, and Directors Stephen Jackson and Michael Patrick.

A&M Valuation Services brings together senior financial, accounting, transactional and operating professionals to deliver the firm’s objective independent advice to clients in need of world-class services.
