Clifford Chance appointed Richard Kruger as counsel in New York in its US Funds & Investment Management team.
Kruger brings to Clifford Chance more than 10 years of investment management experience, advising sponsors of private investment funds, including buyout, growth capital and secondaries funds on fund formation and ongoing operations. He also routinely represents secondaries funds on the acquisitions and sales of private fund portfolios and institutional investors on investments in alternative investment funds.
Kruger offers particular expertise advising on the formation and operations of closed-ended private investment funds, and his work spans public and private company mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions and general corporate advice.
His hiring follows the recent appointment of partners William Sturman, Kelly Labritz and Vadim Avdeychik in the same team.
US Co-Head of Funds & Investment Management & Funds Michael Sabin said, "Our growing client work in the US private capital markets has required us to recruit top talent with a track record of delivering excellence to clients. We are delighted to have Richard join us as we deepen our services in the US private capital market."
In pursuit of its ambitious growth strategy in the US, Clifford Chance has hired five partners and three counsel in 2022. In addition to the above, the firm welcomed Young Kim as counsel in its US Financial Services Regulatory Group last month, life sciences and healthcare antitrust partner Leigh Oliver, renewable energy, project finance and tax partner Alexander Leff, and Leah Feldman as counsel in structured finance.
Kruger, who joins from Covington & Burling LLP, shared, "I'm excited to join Clifford Chance's renowned global platform, which is capable of servicing clients, from across many sectors, in multiple jurisdictions."
