Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) announced New York-based Manish Gupta’s appointment as a Managing Director with A&M’s Global Transaction Advisory Group (TAG). Gupta’s hire continues the strategic expansion of A&M’s buy-side, sell-side, financial and accounting due diligence capabilities for Fortune 1000, corporates, and private equity (PE) clients.
Gupta brings more than 20 years of experience leading cross-border projects with global teams. He has advised multi-nationals across North America, the UK, Europe and Asia on transaction structures including public to private, leveraged and management buy-outs, carve-outs, full enterprise divestitures and spin-offs. Additionally, Mr. Gupta has supported deals across the transaction lifecycle for a wide range of Fortune 1000 clients including industrial products, chemicals, manufacturing, distribution, aerospace, media and entertainment, cable and broadcasting and business services.
Prior to joining A&M, Gupta served as Partner with Ernst & Young’s Strategy and Transactions Group and most recently served as the global M&A services leader for one of that firm’s Fortune 100 diversified industrial conglomerate clients. In that capacity, he worked closely with the client’s global team including corporate development executives, business unit presidents, and CEOs and CFOs. He also did secondments to Ernst & Young offices in Los Angeles and London.
“Manish’s hire bolsters our ability to support corporate M&A. His joining enhances Global TAG’s expertise across multiple sectors, particularly industrial services, and furthers our alignment with A&M’s broader, global industry focus,” said Paul Aversano, Managing Director and Global Practice Leader of A&M’s Global Transaction Advisory Group. “Companies are in de-conglomerate mode, with larger entities separating their core and non-core businesses to become more efficient and competitive. Manish’s track record helping corporates drive value across the transaction lifecycle will benefit our clients. His transaction and transformation expertise dovetails with A&M’s operational heritage and strengthens our ability to solve for clients’ complex problems against the backdrop of economic volatility.’”
Anthony Caporrino, Managing Director with A&M’s Global Transaction Advisory Group in New York and the US TAG Practice Leader, said, “Manish’s hire bolsters our lines of service. Businesses are looking for organic and inorganic growth opportunities amid intense market competition. Additionally, they are facing heightened capital structure decision scrutiny from institutional and individual investors, as activists are amplifying pressure on boards and management teams. Manish’s joining enhances our ability to drive change for clients and demonstrates our commitment to addressing corporate M&A concerns.”
Gupta earned a bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University and an MBA from Indiana University. He is a Chartered Accountant in India.
