Sidley Austin LLP announced that Ram Burshtine has joined the firm’s New York office as a partner in the Global Finance practice. Mr. Burshtine brings extensive experience in representing financial institutions, private equity sponsors and corporate borrowers in a wide range of domestic and cross-border financing transactions.
“Ram is an experienced and skilled finance practitioner with an impressive track record of advising top-tier clients,” said Michael J. Schmidtberger, managing partner of the firm’s New York office. “We are pleased to welcome him to our international team of transactional lawyers focused on providing strategic and real-time counsel to clients addressing the latest developments in the global finance market.”
Mr. Burshtine’s practice focuses on leveraged domestic and cross-border acquisition and recapitalization financing transactions, including leveraged and investment grade financing, leveraged cash-flow and asset-based syndicated credit facilities, first and second lien secured facilities, unitranche loans, and senior and mezzanine transactions. He also regularly advises clients in connection with debt restructuring, debtor-in-possession credit facilities and exit financing. Over the past two years alone, Mr. Burshtine represented clients on financing transactions, which aggregated amounts in excess of $6 billion.
“Ram’s considerable experience in event-driven and corporate finance matters strengthens the broad range of capabilities currently provided by the talented lawyers in our Global Finance practice,” said Gary Stern, co-global coordinator of Sidley’s Global Finance practice. “He will be a great asset to the team in New York, and his arrival enhances our overall ability to meet the needs of all of our shared clients around the world.”
Mr. Burshtine’s arrival further expands the firm’s Global Finance practice, following the recent addition of two new partners to the practice in Dallas and the addition of one partner in Sidley’s Houston office.
