September 04, 2014, 07:22 AM

Square 1 Bank announced that seasoned venture banker Bill Griesinger has joined as senior vice president. Griesinger will lead the bank's business development efforts in the Houston technology community and expand its presence throughout Texas.

"I am excited to join the Square 1 Bank team," said Griesinger. "Since its founding, the bank has established itself as a well-respected financial services partner to entrepreneurs and their investors, and I look forward to building on that foundation as we expand our presence throughout the region."

With nearly 25 years of commercial banking experience, Griesinger joins Square 1 Bank from Comerica where he served as senior vice president and team lead for the Houston-area technology practice. Prior to Comerica, Griesinger served as a director of BlueCrest Capital Finance, the US-based technology lending arm of BlueCrest Capital Management, where he was responsible for underwriting and managing venture debt deals in the technology and life science sectors. Previous positions also include credit and commercial lending roles at GE Capital, Heller Financial, and Linc Capital. Griesinger earned a BS in Business from Indiana University and holds an MBA from Ball State University.

"We are pleased to welcome Bill to the Square 1 Bank team," said Tommy Deavenport, managing director of Square 1 Bank Texas region. "As a seasoned venture banker, his experience further strengthens our ability to deliver the comprehensive, value-added solutions clients have come to expect from the Square 1 brand. Adding Bill to lead our efforts in the Houston market is a key step forward for us, as we continue to support the entrepreneurial ecosystems throughout the state of Texas."
