Moving to broaden the level of expertise in the Risk Management and Legal Departments, Investors Bank has selected experienced Risk Management Officer Philippa Girling to lead the Enterprise Risk Management team and Brian Doran as General Counsel of the Bank.
Girling will immediately join the Bank as Senior Vice President, Chief Risk Officer and will report directly to the Chairman of the Risk Committee of Investors' Board of Directors. She will oversee the Bank's BSA, Compliance and Credit Risk departments.
Girling was previously Business Risk Officer, SVP at Capital One Commercial Bank. Her experience in global securities and operational risk will bring additional strength and expertise to our risk management areas. As a recognized industry leader, she was named one of the decades "Top Fifty Faces of Operational Risk". In addition to authoring two Operational Risk textbooks, she is also an active public speaker on topics of Operational and Regulatory Risk Management. Holder of New York Bar and Financial Risk Manager (FRM) qualifications, she was also recognized in 2014 by Working Mother Magazine as one of the top 100 Working Mothers in America.
Doran was appointed Senior Vice President and General Counsel on October 16, 2015. Before joining Investors Bank, Doran was at Popular Community Bank (formerly known as Banco Popular) since 1999 where he most recently served as Region Executive for Popular's New York Metro Region and Director of Government Affairs. Prior to joining Popular, Doran was a partner at McConnell Valdez LLP in New York and also served as a banking and commercial transaction attorney at Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue.
Doran serves on the Boards of the Sisters of Charity Housing Development Corporation, the Hispanic Federation and the Staten Island Center for Independent Living. Mr. Doran holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Marquette University and earned a Juris Doctor from St. John's University School of Law.
